On Distant Shores

I submit this report in accordance with the laws of the magnificent city of Selgaunt and the greater Sembian nation and with respect to my deep conviction in the justice of Helm. I have today accepted a confession to the killing Pentarch Judas Escott, high priest of the House of Tymora by Pierce Reynalt, son of Alister Reynalt and Lord Warden of the Star Mountains

I have it on his word and the word of Herrun Bolderheft, Prime Minister of the Allied Cities and chief representative of the Lady that Pentarch Escott was in some way murdering his congregation. I myself, while serving in my capacity as Guard Captain observed several well known members of the Tymoran Church suffering what appeared to be self inflicted wounds to the neck.

When I attempted to detain those present for questioning one of the suspects, a sun elf floating in mid-air wielding a glowing blade used some form of magic to disappear. It has been confirmed that this suspect is Lucious Baron, Chief Inquisitor of Waterdeep. I formally request the council attempt to extradite the Chief Inquisitor as a suspect in this case.

Another, a gnome claiming to be entirely un-involved in the event left the scene before further questioning could be performed. We suspect now that this was Bimdle Windwalker, wild mage of the Book and Blade. The Prime Minister himself left the scene on Thormgrish Hammerhoof and has not been seen since.

I would be remiss in my duty if I did not point out that it was not more than one year ago that I arrested Bruce Reynalt for the murder of four members of the Tymoran Pentarchy, a crime that your august body did determine he was guilty of. Pierce Reynalt is being held for the killing of Pentarch Juedas Escott however due to the unusual and extraordinary nature of the event and acknowledging the immediate presence of Reynalt Family legal council I propose that a summary trial by council be held to determine if in fact Pierce Reynalts actions were justified.

Captain Thase Aumont, Selgaunt

Dragon Bane

Less than a month after the heroic victory in Daggerford the Book and Blade have proven once again the manifest destiny of the Allied Cities. Striking out at the head of a platoon of the Black Cloaks finest they stormed the walls of Dragonspear castle and scattered the hoard of the Fang of the Moor. Not stopping to rest they immediately set out to foil the dark machinations of the Hidden Black Scale and in so doing saved and secured the Miyeritari Library city of Faer’tel’miir. In the name of The Lady the Prime Minister Herrun Bolderheft has promised to open the city to any who would seek to make it their home. Having secured the ancient city under the protection of the republic the Book and Blade set out to end Akidumkulostros’s reign of terror. Finding the dragon at the heart of its power our heroes struck out and defeated the ancient beast. With Daggerford, Dragonspear Castle and Faer’tel’miir firmly under Black Cloak control the Savage Frontier will soon be well established as a domain of the Allied Cities.

It is yet unclear what caused the phenomenon on the 20th of Nightal. Citizens can rest assured that authorities have thoroughly investigated the possibility of lingering effects of the event and can report that nothing should be observed beyond a slight increase in plant growth.

Citizens interested in land ownership should consult their local Administration cloak about opportunities provided by the Homesteader’s Act. Free relocation and and initial support to be provided by the Administration and the Book and Blade.

Victory! The brave Book and Blade and the stout men of First Legion have secured the vital town of Daggerford in the name of The Lady and her Allied Cities. Even now the citizens of Daggerford open their hearths and hearts to the bearers of Allied City benevolence. The Warlord Greatshout was killed before our great heroes could save him from the monstrous forces he himself summoned. Citizens of Fields, Waterdeep and GoodEarth are encouraged to relocate to the newly incorporated protectorate. Those interested should speak with their local Administration Cloak.

""Or at least that is what the local Fields Exports and Imports information agencies are saying. I also suspect The Mage was keeping tabs on the local Weave minutia and has provided a general report of what occurred. I have noted that the Spy Master has uncovered a number of orders transferred to Colonel Aegean through physical courier from The Lady directly. These instruct him to prepare for the arrival of archaeological teams.

Sir Ian has reported that adventurers have begun appearing in nearby villages. I have personally interviewed several and am prepared to make several withdrawals from the behest fund. The Destroyer continues to investigate several avenues of study multiple Sun Elf conclaves have deemed overly dangerous or overtly destructive. I have informed him that I intend to make a formal complaint and wish to consider this report a verbal submission of that complaint.

Furthermore, the Destroyer and myself as well as numerous independent third parties have observed an odd phenomena occurring in the underlying fabric of the weave. I have petitioned both The Mage as well as the magical authorities of Evermeet for additional information but have not received a response.

This morning I had meetings with members of the Senate and Administration and in addition to my duties to the Lord Warden I will have further such meetings later today." – Taeghan Laelithar bi-tenday report.

The room the Book and Blade find themselves in is small, square and glowing with the treasure piled in every corner. The Book and Blade discover that this room is a small closet tucked away in an unused portion of the upper catacombs. After almost an hour of travel they arrive at the entrance they had first used to enter the re-purposed ruins. They hear the voice of many shouting men, they also hear the impatient tones of a frustrated Taeghan Laelithar.

Stercus Accidit

The Book and Blade have raised Overwatch Keep deep in the High Forest atop the Star Mountains. Brave men of the Blade and Quicksilver Companies stand fast against a horde of savage forest peoples who would otherwise interrupt the fledgling flow of Frigentum, a material for which Fields Exports and Imports is willing to spend considerable sums. Furthermore the Lord Warden has assured the Senate of Fields he will keep secure the forest in the name of The Lady and her Allied Cities.

Now the Book and Blade strike out at the head of the Black Cloaks 1st Legion under the command of the young Colonel Aegean Vervale. Their objective is to civilize the savage frontier and open up further opportunities for trade and settlement for the people of the Allied Cities.

Even now Daggerford trembles under the gaze of a thousand men of 1st Legion and the mighty Book and Blade.

Fields Rising

The heroic Book and Blade have returned to an admiring city of Fields. Bolstered with confidence inspired by the martial feats of their great adventuring party the people of the Allied Cities have proposed the Lex Cretum Certo. It came as a surprise to many when the Heroes themselves spoke out against the movement. A counter movement of intellectual and philosopher senators gained strength from the support of the party.

Waterdeep Investigations

Investigations of ongoing events in Waterdeep prove to be difficult as the city lives up to its reputation of dangerous intrigue and lawless alley streets.

Taking Back Loudwater

An Elven voice is the first thing to pierce the blue flame that consumes the Book and Blades world. “I have them” it says in a calm but slightly rushed tone. When vision returns it seems as though the group is back in the center of the Ultraloth wall of flame but it is not the misty swamp that dominates the landscape beyond the fire but the storm shrouded walls of the town of Loudwater. The scene has a dream like quality and a great lethargy saps the will of the party.

Head Hunting

The Book and Blade, after participating in the defense of Secomber marched out with the Silver Hand Sisters and Lords Alliance soldiers to retake Loudwater. On the way the force of about 250 were constantly attacked by the Orcish horde and associated monsters. The Book and Blade themselves defeated an attacking Beholder with Ogre Mage bodyguards.

Dinner With Friends

The Book and Blade arrived in Waterdeep to participate in Governor Tarthus Marcone‘s state dinner. Each member arrived for their own reasons but found things which warranted the groups additional attention. Bimdle Windwalker along with Herrun “Blackfinger” Bolderheft investigated rumors from Inquisitor Lewis suggesting that Dimble Windwalker was somewhere in the lower districts of Waterdeep. They did indeed find the gnomish barbarian deep within the lower residential district where he seemed to be leading a quasi-arcane cult in activity focused around the iron works tower left from the The Burned Man’s attack on the city.
